Pro-bono Vs. Selling
At the end of the day, the bottom line is about the dollar. Every business person wants sales, but they also must be able to give. Even when I was working on breaking into the music business, I've always had this belief : If I gave away ten free CD's and those ten people didn't have money at the moment to buy a CD, those are ten people who can hear my music and potentially reach more listeners, resulting in an x amount of word of mouth.
I gave away free kindle ebooks , and over 200 people downloaded it in Amazon. I am pleased that these readers have my book , and that they are receiving the enrichment and inspiration itntended for them. What if this day, FREE Ebook Sunday 8/12/12, 200+readers didnt have $5,99 to download an ebook? That is over 200 lives I am impacting and inspiring!
I am in the business to help people by writing books and motivational speaking. I've done pro-bono speaking engagements as well. While giving can go a long way, any businessman has to make money in order to stay in business.
