The spotlight was not focused on Alshon Jeffery until he injured his hand. He is a great talent that cannot be overlooked! Jeffery will emerge as a top receiver in the NFL. The only factor slowing progress for the Chicago Bears rookie receiver now is his hand injury.
Jeffery suffered a broken right hand after receiving a touchdown pass in the Bears blowout victory over Jacksonville Jaguars in week 5. He is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks according to league sources. At least when he returns to football, he will be back by week 11 at the latest. That will give him time to make an impact for the season and continue to enhance his resume.
While Chicago looks destined to earn a spot in the postseason, he will be just in time for the playoffs. The Bears are deep at the wideout position, but with Jeffery in the lineup, they will pose an even greater threat. The second round pick out of South Carolina has put up nice numbers with 14 receptions, 184 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
Jay Cutler hasn't used the option much to pass the football to the rookie, but when he finds him, he is always available and ready!
He is a complete receiver with pure raw talent and a bright future.
