RG3 Should Have Been Taken Out of Game: Injury May Have Cost Redskins Wildcard game lose 24-14

As my article on Wild Card Sunday mentioned, the Redskins
and Seahawks game would be tight and close knit. That was the case, but that
one play was unfortunately the giving out of RG3’s leg. There was no way
Griffin should have still been in the game. He came out and got the Redskins
off to a hot start with two touchdown passes on the first two drives of the
game. He seemed more unhealthy as the game progressed and he was limping and
taking it easy at the snap.
I thought long earlier in the game it would
be a good time to substitute Kirk Cousins, but the coach never made a decision
to do so. I understand he might have been thinking RG3 would be ok to play
after his two TD passes, but a better judgment call could have been made. With about
6 minutes remaining in the fourth, RG3 lost the ball at the snap due to his
knee injury (appears his knee buckled), and that was the major turning point of this game. The Seahawks
led 21-14 prior to recovering the fumble. This was an opportunity for
Washington to make a scoring drive, but it turned into 3 points for Seattle.
Kirk Cousins
made his debut on the next drive and went out on 4th and 14 as
Seattle defense blitzed the rookie quarterback. Seattle Seahawks won the
wildcard matchup 24-14. They will meet the Atlanta Falcons for the NFC Divisional in the Georgia Dome
on Sunday 1/13/13. Follow @nategrayzone.
