NBA Preseason…10-16-13  Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons

Derrick Rose played his first game in the United Center since April 2012. It was certainly a good look for him and the Bulls.

Comcast analyst Stacey King said he can only imagine how it would be when Rose comes back he would need some earplugs and that it would be very loud. D Rose indeed received a cheerful welcome from his hometown.

He was solid all the way around from his confidence to his game play. He broke it in with the first score of the game. D Rose looks very solid, has bulked up a bit, and is a more enhanced player than he was

At a glance…..Some pieces of Rose’s game that looks enhanced.

Court vision: He sees everything and knows where everyone is on his team.

Speed: He is back to normal with his quickness bringing the ball up the court along with shaking off defenders and driving to the lane.

J: The jump shot was sharp and consistent on 6/9 from the field.

3 point shot: He was 50.0 on 1/ 2 three point attempts. His three- pointer was immediately following a play he just scored prior. When Detroit inbounded the ball, it was stolen by rookie Tony Snell and dished to Rose for the three. In prior season before his injury, Derrick was showing signs of a highly improved 3 point shot.

Coordination: D Rose had no problem getting his team involved. Only having 2 assists, he was huge in the team game flow and ball movement. One of the highlights of the game was his crossover, falling, off balanced, one hand, off the glass shot, with a second on the clock before half time, And One!

Coach Tom Thibodeau rested Rose in the fourth quarter. He finished with 22 points in 22 minutes on 66.0 FG.

Derrick Rose gave a glimpse of every aspect of his game you will see this season. Don’t be surprised if he is crowned again the MVP. He has one MVP title in just four years in the league along with a Rookie of the Year. This can be his return and we will get a chance to see Derrick Rose resume what is not finished, his quest for more, a championship.

Rose also showed a chemistry with the rookie small forward Tony Snell. Snell came with 12 points off the bench, 10 at the half, all around the time he shared the floor with Rose.

Chicago Bulls won over Detroit Pistons 96-81. Chicago will host the Indiana Pacers at the United Center on Friday, October 18, 2013.
