Will Denver Broncos Complete All the Way to Super Bowl in 2013?
@nategrayzone
There are a few NFL teams whose had the best record or
promising seasons but failed to complete in the end. Either they lost in the
playoffs or made it to the Super Bowl and lost that game.
The 14-2 San Diego Chargers had the NFL best record in 2006
but lost in the Divisional Playoffs to the New England Patriots.
The 16-0 New England Patriots fell to the New York Giants in
the Super Bowl, ending their perfect season.
The 2011 Denver Broncos were 13-3 and an early favorite to
win the Super Bowl, but they had a shocking loss to the champion Baltimore
Ravens in the divisional round.
Speaking of the Denver Broncos….
The 2013 Broncos are the hottest team in the NFL with Peyton
Manning’s record setting season and playing the best football of his fifteen
year career. Denver leads the NFL with 179 points scored entering week 5. They
will register even more points with currently 38 points at halftime versus
Dallas Cowboys. Talks have been about the Broncos winning the Super Bowl this
season and the signs seem to point that way in observing how well they are playing.
The 2013 team however is a different team than the 2012
Broncos. This season, they have added Wes Welker, acquired from New England
Patriots. Welker went from Tom Brady to Peyton Manning. Not a bad place to be
huh? His trade is something like NBA coach Phil Jackson going from Michael
Jordan and the Chicago Bulls to Kobe Bryant, Shaq and the LA Lakers. That’s a
move that puts one in a situation just as good as they were in before.
Denver can be plagued by the bad luck that hits highly
scrutinized teams with high expectations and early media talks of winning the
Super Bowl. They can also break that cycle, remain focused on football one week
at a time, and tune out the hype.
There is no team right now in the NFL that seems to pose a
threat to the Broncos, but anything can happen come playoff time. If the
Broncos aren’t the team to come out of the AFC, then who will?
There are four AFC teams that may surprise the Broncos if
they meet in the playoffs. Denver will also face these teams in the regular
season and they are:
Indianapolis Colts with a rising Andrew Luck
New England Patriots with Tom Brady
Houston Texans who
lost 2012 division to Patriots
And WOW………the Kansas City Chiefs, that has made a major
turnaround with new coach, Andy Reid. They are also 5-0, remaining undefeated
through week five.
It will be interesting. Only time will tell. I will be
watching the Broncos progress!
