Thursday Night Football Preview: Giants @ Bears
Facebook: NateGrayZone
Thursday will be a big night for two NFC teams, New York
Giants at Chicago Bears. In primetime Thursday Night Football, the Bears are seeking
to snap their two game losing streak, while Eli Manning and camp are struggling
for their first win.
Although New York is 0-5, you can’t count them out. Bears
Tight End Martellus Bennett also said he is not counting out his former team. .
He also said “You never know, the Giants they might step up and do something.”
Next to my home team, Chicago Bears, the New York Giants are
my favorite NFL team. I am also fair in my Bears/Giants reviews and pre-game analysis when they face off J
I know the Giants capabilities and at some point they have
to connect. 6 weeks into the season, it may be too late unless they pull a win
streak or just enough based on how their divisional competition fairs.
This Thursday Night game can be their first win,
but I’m not sure their focus and game execution will sustain.
Giants 2013 season
highlights…
They were shut out by the Carolina Panthers, another team
who would also be undefeated if their only win didn’t come against New York Giants.
In what I’ve seen through week 5, about a third of Manning’s
interceptions were careless passes. Notice how he threw some of these
interceptions wild and freely? He could have taken the sack or threw the ball
away to avoid those turnovers. An Intentional Grounding would have been better
decisions for Eli in that case.
He has been sacked 15 times this season, 7 of that were
versus the Carolina Panthers. New York Giants are in a division where the top NFC
East team is 2-3 (Dallas Cowboys). Dallas is also the only 2-3 NFL team at
first place in their division.
Chicago on the other
hand has had a taste of victory at least for three straight games when the
season started. Although the Bears have
lost two straight, they are still playing better football than the New York
Giants this right now. Jay Cutler’s passer rating is 93, Eli 63.
The Bears took notes watching the tape of their loss to the
Saints last week. They stated from watching the tape they need to get off to a
fast start and not wait too long to get going. The keys for Chicago to win
tonight will be to disrupt Manning early on, control the momentum, and put
points on the board. This will take the
Giants out of the game early and shake their confidence.
Both teams are close to each other in the lower bottom of
the rankings in the passing defense statistics. Both defenses have changed this year. The Giants
have declined in offense and defense changes, while the Bears have upgraded in
offense.
