Joe Flacco, Super Bowl Champ Ravens Fall to Bears in Overtime 23-20

Chicago, Illinois-
In the midst of a tornado watch and high wind storm in the
Chicago land area, the Bears were at home in Soldier Field hosting the Super
Bowl Champions, Baltimore Ravens. The high winds also didn’t stop Bears kicker,
Robbie “good as gold” Gould, from securing the win in overtime with his 46 yard
field goal. Although the football was shifting high right after the kick, it
was still aligned in the goal post.
It may be safe to say, “Quarterback controversy in Chicago?”
QB Josh McCown led the Bears with an error free of
interception passing game on 19 of 31 completions for 216 yards and one
touchdown. His QB rating was 92.9. McCown connected with Matt Forte for his
touchdown pass of 14 yards with 10:33 remaining in the fourth quarter. In
addition to rushing for 83 yards on 18 carries, Forte caught 5 passes for 42
yards. He was evenly matched on the ground with Ray Rice until Rice outrushed
him, but Forte balanced it with his air attack.
25 carries for 125 yards and one touchdown by Ray Rice was
not enough for Baltimore to fly past Chicago.
Alshon Jeffery led all Bears receivers with 7 receptions for
83 yards. Martellus Bennett and Brandon Marshall were also instrumental
combining for 6 receptions for a total of 90 yards.
Julius Peppers came up big in the win with two sacks on
Ravens quarterback, Joe Flacco. Flacco also coughed up two interceptions
against the Chicago defense, one that returned by rookie defensive end David Bass
for a 24 yard touchdown.
Ravens receiver, Torrey Smith led his team in receptions (5)
and 1 touchdown. Receiver Jacoby Jones who was big in the Super Bowl game was
quiet this afternoon in Chicago with two receptions for 18 yards.
Baltimore Ravens continued to struggle on the road as their
record dropped to 4-6 (1-5 away). Chicago Bears improved to 6-4 (4-2 home) at
second place in the NFC North, with the 23-20 win.
