Monday Night Football: Bears Bounce Back, Defeat Rival Packers 27-20
Chicago Bears returned from a loss to Washington Redskins to
have a meeting with their rival, Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay opened the game winning the coins and recording
the first three points of the game with a field goal.
Interesting first quarter . . .
Second year defensive end, Shea McClellin took Aaron Rodgers
out of the game with a sack. Green Bay backup QB, Seneca Wallace was the next
man up. He threw an interception that was a pass deflected by Julius Peppers.
Green Bay answered right back with a block punt that resulted in a touchdown
run by James Starks on the first play following.
Bears second string Josh McCown, scrambled, avoided a tackle
and connected with Brandon Marshall for a touchdown. Way to go Josh by the way!
He was even better on his second drive connecting his first two passes with
receiver, Alshon Jeffery.
Green Bay led 10-7 at the end of the first. McCown kept the
party going with a productive drive in the second quarter that put the Bears
back in the lead, 14-10
Chicago led 17-10 at the half.
Despite Rodgers absence, Green Bay still moved the ball
effectively with a huge run from Eddie Lacy that placed the Packers at the
Bears own 1, resulting in a touchdown that tied the game with the point after
on the next play. It gets better, Green Bay recovered an onside kick after
their touchdown, giving them great starting field position. After all of that,
Packers took the lead 20-17. Josh McCown found Alshon Jeffery later in the
third quarter for a six yard touchdown pass that put the Bears ahead 24-20.
With 7:30 remaining in the fourth on the Bears own 33, Forte
broke through with the first down on a fourth and inches ball spot. Good call,
Marc Trestman!
At the final two minute warning, Bears were in the red zone.
Matt Forte was the key late in the second half for the Chicago Bears. He rushed
for 125 yards on 24 carries. The Bears added 3 more points to take the 27-20
