Seattle's Best: Seahawks Have Advantage Over 49ers in Week 14 Match
Usually before watching the games and writing articles, I chop it up with my boy dboy80, darnellb80@yahoo.com. We just discussed the game of the week, Seattle Seahawks at San Fran 49ers!!!
Seattle’s best! And I am not talking about the coffee either. The Seattle Seahawks with the NFL’s best record have a business meeting today with the San Francisco 49ers in Candlestick Park. Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers are looking for revenge after they were stomped 29-3 in Seattle in week 2. Since the week 2 loss, the 49ers were (5-1) through week 8, which included a 5 game winning streak that started in week 4.
The Seahawks and the 49ers are the only two NFC teams beside the Carolina Panthers with a defense allowing less than 200 points. Seattle however has a higher offensive power than both teams according to the stats. Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is number 6 of the top backs, while 49ers Frank Gore is at number 10.
Seahawks QB, Russell Wilson also has the edge over 49ers, Kaepernick. Wilson has a QB passer rating of 108.5. Kaepernick’s rating is 88.9. While both QB’s are swift and witty, Wilson has a more complete game and a better arm for launching the deep ball. He may even be slightly quicker than Kaepernick. Last season, Russell Wilson was the final rookie quarterback remaining in the playoffs, while Kaepernick and his team marched to the Super Bowl game but lost to the Baltimore Ravens. It’s no question both quarterbacks are motivated and hungry to return to the playoffs to get that ring.
On paper, the 49ers receivers are better, but in reality and at the rate of how both teams are playing right now, the Seahawks have the receiver advantage in Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate. 49ers have one man, tight end Vernon Davis who can pose a threat for Seattle offense, but Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor should be able to contain him
San Fran is no sleeper though. Since losing 28-3 to Seattle in week 2, the 49ers have been averaging 26 points per game, just two points shy of the Seahawks total season average of 28. Notice the Seahawks won with 28 points in their first meeting and they have managed to average 28 points per game through the entire season. There is something to be said about consistency with this Seahawk football team, and they are much better and stronger since then.
