Nate Gray on Shark Tank's Barbara Corcoran "Invest In Your Own Backyard" A Winning Perspective

As an emerging entrepreneur, I surround myself with people and anything related to the business of entrepreneurship, and soak up any knowledge I can.

In fact, one of my favorite business TV programs is, Shark Tank. I follow @Entrepreneur and came across an article they shared that featured a success tip from one of the Sharks, Barbara Corcoran!

When I read her tip, I said, "That's A Winning Perspective!" Barbara Corcoran was talking about working with what you know, and how chasing unfamiliar new markets is a fast track to failure. She stated, “I’ve watched so many people smarter than me lose as much money as I’ve made. You know what they forgot? They forgot to invest in their own backyard—what they knew.”

That was good advice for me and let's me know I'm on the right track.

Her statement shows how she has a positive mindset about choosing which lines of business and fields to play, and also how she learned that from other entrepreneurs around her. Rather than to follow others by jumping into new unfamiliar business, she learned in order to continue success, she has to go with what she knows and what works for her.
