A Winning Perspective: Tamera Mowry on Being Called the Ugly Goofy Twin

I love when anyone opens up and keep it real about who they are behind their title, image, brand, or whatever, especially celebrities.

On an episode of "The Real" daytime talk show that aired Monday, 4/11/16, I heard something Tamera Mowry said that surprised me as she was emotional in tears sharing it, and when I heard it, I said, “That’s A Winning Perspective.” A part of my message, from my new book, A Winning Perspective, is about having a positive mindset, your perception of life and how you choose to respond to your challenges and make it work for you.

Tamera shared a story from when she was acting on the sitcom show, ‘Sister Sister,’ She stated that she and her sister, Tia Mowry-Hardrict, would sit down and read their fan mail, respond and sign autographs to all of them.

Tamera said she remembered receiving a mean letter from someone telling her, she is the ugly and goofy twin. She was hurt behind it and wondered why someone would write that to her. She said something along the lines of, she carried the letter with her everywhere since then to remind her of who she was and her beauty.

Tamera said she carried the letter until one day a friend told her, “You are not 16 years old anymore. You do not have to carry that letter around,” basically the friend encouraged her to forget that letter, let it go, and told her you are not defined by that one person’s comment.

She said that moment has helped her to deal with any negative remarks or energy she receive going forward and she is reminded that no one can say anything about her nor define her but God.
