Chicago Bears Training Camp Kick Off Party 2016
I was excited and honored to be invited to the Chicago Bears training camp kick off party at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais IL, held on Tuesday July 26, 2016
As a sports fan and networking expert, it was an inspiration and new experience for me to mingle with the corporate/front office side of the sports world!
It was a pleasure to meet and be among Kankakee Chamber of Commerce, Fortune 500 companies and political figures including former Illinois governor George Ryan, along with Chicago Bears personnel and corporate staff, which included Brian McCaskey (Bears Senior Director of Business Development), guest speakers Jay Hilgenberg (former member of the Bears 85 championship team and Jim Schwantz, a former Chicago Bear, in which both guys are also currently WBBM radio analysts for Chicago Bears network.

This was an event for the community and the fans as the Chicago Bears wanted those people to know they are appreciated as they prepare for the upcoming football season. The event was also for charity, raising awareness on player safety, injuries and health insurance, and a tribute to the late great Sweetness, Walter Payton, in honor of his birthday on July 25th. The tribute began with a video of the 1985 Bears Super Bowl Shuffle, which sparked a laugh from the audience along with some people rocking to the music.
I was thinking to myself, it’s about time our Chicago Bears bring home another one of these Super Bowl titles.
The event closed with an auction of an important Bears flag that hangs in Halas Hall (sold for 600$, pictured below) and an up close and a personal view pair of tickets to Bears vs Jacksonville Jaguars home game on October 16, 2016 (sold for 700$).
The Bears training camp begins Thursday July 28, 2016, Preseason starts August 11, 2016 and the season opener begins September 11 at Houston Texans.
Here’s to a great football season!
Go Bears!
