Life Matters, Period: Police Shootings in America
I am deeply disheartened to hear of police shooting videos through America, and most recently Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge.
It saddens me to see how someone can go their entire life just living it and pursuing their dreams just to lose it all in one unfortunate second, especially due to violence and something like this.
It is not worth it, and it isn't fair. I know this because I am alive today, pursuing my dreams and helping others after surviving being mauled by a police dog of canine patrol and at the same time threatened to be shot by another cop. You can read more on this in a free chapter from my new book release just underway, A Winning Perspective, on overcoming adversity and making opportunities.
Life has so much potential and everyone deserves to live it. How about, Life Matters! Period!
Life goes on. Situations can be resolved, while time is moving, another day is ahead, and the sun will come up tomorrow. It does not have to stop because of one incident.
I do not know a solution for this problem in America, but I do share what I have learned in my own incidents with police as a citizen of Chicago to encourage and help others. I have also supported some activists and leaders here in my city who are fighting for solutions.
I have a similar feeling as President Obama when he stated in this New York Times article, "To be concerned about these issues is not a political correctness. It's just being an American."
Peace and prayers to the families.
